As a former librarian, I have many years’ experience in literature searching, plus additional skills in wider desk research. This has most recently been within healthcare research & practice, but the techniques transfer easily to other areas.
In academic libraries, I supported staff and students in subject areas as varied as biosciences, business, the arts, education and humanities. Later on I moved into healthcare, and developed my skills in medical information searching via roles in hospital libraries, research units and medical communications agencies.
I have regularly conducted searches using a variety of sources to support clinical and business decision making. Requests have ranged from urgent clinical need (results required within a matter of hours in order to treat a patient), through individual research interests (e.g. to support a presentation), to service planning (e.g. risks and benefits of night shift patterns). Alongside full literature searching I have also helped colleagues keep up to date through current awareness tools and news alerts.
I can therefore offer a customised literature searching service that is informed by much experience of tracking down the right information for the right person at the right time. Whether you work in the healthcare industry or in another branch of research or practice, please get in touch with me to talk through your needs.
